They were three young men, imported as slaves together with
the rest of Israel, but they stood out. They always did.
The great king of Babylon desired loyalty. No, he desired
worship.
He wanted total submission from his people and the aliens
they had brought from Jerusalem, so he issued a decree: everyone must fall to
the ground and worship the image of gold that he had made. No exceptions.
Now, even without such a decree, these three Hebrew men had
little to no rights as slaves in a foreign nation. They had no place showing
their faces anywhere above the rest of the legitimate citizens of Babylon, but
they had something to live for. They believed in something, in someone.
Their belief in God was greater than anything any earthly
king could throw at them, and so when the decree came forth they didn’t even protest.
There was no need; their minds were already made up.
The image was raised, the trumpets sounded, everyone fell to
the ground, except these young Hebrews.
They had such amazing audacity in the face of king
Nebuchadnezzar, that when he confronted them they told Him to His face,” we
don’t need to answer you concerning this matter.”
They were so sure of Whom they believed in, even when they
were thrown into the fire they held on to their belief. They had no assurance
that God would deliver them, but they were confident that He could. They knew
He would if He needed to, and that was good enough for them.
The question today is not whether God can or cannot, the question is, do you believe?
You don’t need to give God terms and conditions. No need to
negotiate for His help, He will do it if He wants to. The only issue is you;
how far are you willing to go because of Him?
He’ll tear down the edges of the universe for your sake,
that’s how far He is willing to go.
God is able, do you believe?
