God is good!
Many times, people don’t realize how good something is,
especially when it looks or works just as it was made to work. It’s easy to
identify a faulty machine or tool though: it obviously doesn’t work.
It is difficult too sometimes to identify someone who does a
good job, especially when there aren’t other people doing the same job. Things
run smoothly and it looks so easy that people barely notice a job was done. It
just feels like things occurred naturally.
When God made the world He did a good job, but there was no
one to notice how good a job He did – no humans at least.
However, the writer of Genesis records that
“The earth
produced vegetation: plants bearing seeds, each according to its own type, and
trees bearing fruit with seeds, each according to its own type.”
This
statement looks so normal or ordinary that we barely notice how
significant it is.
Computer
programmers would know better; it’s almost impossible to write code and get it
to work without a single bug!
But God did
it. And He was there Himself to notice that “it was good!”
God’s
goodness goes beyond kindness and benevolence. God is good, because He is
excellent. He is competent enough to be God!
God is
good; you can’t call Him the best though, because no one else even comes close.
God is so
good, we barely notice.
It’s been a really long time since
creation, and The earth [still] produces
vegetation: plants bearing seeds, each according to its own type, and trees
bearing fruit with seeds, each according to its own type…
Today I said
to myself that, apart from what I have read about God, or heard people say
about Him; I have experienced the goodness of God.
God is
good. I am evidence, and so are you.
